Village Events
This annual village event has been run for over 100 years by a group of volunteers from the community and is a truly village affair!
There is always been lots on offer including maypole dancing, a Punch and Judy show, a display of classic cars and tractors and an array of inflatables for the kids plus a wide range of craft stalls and traditional fun games stalls! There is also always something new each year to keep you on your toes and get everyone involved from fencing and pottery throwing to Punch and Ju .
You will find plenty of refreshments: a fabulous BBQ offering local sausages and burgers, real ales and cocktails, plus an abundance of cake and cream teas which can be consumed while listening to bands and musicians showcasing our local talent.
There is also a Village Committee run Dog Show which is a firm favourite and a crowd puller. Bring your furry friend along to try and win ‘Waggiest Tail’ or ‘Owner that most looks like their Dog’!
Children from the local school sing and a traditional flower show that runs along side with prizes for everything from flower arrangements to homemade cakes and jams, and the largest and smallest fruits and vegetables.
Fordcombe Open Gardens
Fordcombe Open Gardens (FOG) is a wonderful opportunity to visit the gardens in and around the picturesque village of Fordcombe.
There are an extraordinary range of gardens and garden features to inspire the visitor: grand gardens with spectacular views over the High Weald, small terraced front gardens, bijou back gardens, rockeries, water features, wildflower meadows, rare and unusual tree and plant species and more! Every visitor will find inspiration and great ideas on dealing with the heavy clay soil and those tricky parts of the garden where nothing seems to grow.
A FOG passport provides access to all the gardens with either a day or weekend pass. There is a walking route from the centre of the village and a guide to the properties that have parking at the property or close by.
The Village Hall is available throughout the day for morning coffee, light lunches and plant and produce sales as well as toilets. Many of the gardeners also provide refreshments and have plants available to buy.
All proceeds go to charity – generally, the Village Hall and St Peter’s Church but other local causes can be considered.
We hope to soon start planning an event for 2024 If you would be interested in opening your garden, volunteering to help or renting table space for a stall, please contact Tara Davies on 01892 740897.
Fordcombe Christmas Fair
The Fordcombe Christmas fair is traditionally a festive gathering of Church School and the Village Community coming together to enjoy in the festive spirit of Christmas.
Father Christmas comes to visit the children and festive fun is to be had by all the family. Previous stalls have included a range of crafts, a raffle and a lucky dip for the kids. Teas and cakes are served as well as mulled wine.

Hendy Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon & Pop-up Cafe
Every February Fordcombe villagers enjoy cheering on runners in the Hendy Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon while enjoying a bacon butty and a cuppa from the pop-up-cafe. As the racers run up what is regarded as the most challenging part of the course – the steep 300 foot Spring Hill in Fordcombe – they receive an encouraging roar from the crowds as they head onwards towards the finish line.
